Home Away From Home

So part of challenging myself to upgrade my blog to more than just outfit posts I decided to do one about my home away from home..... Hofstra University, and more specifically the tiny little box I call my dorm room. Since I moved here from Ohio more than a year ago, I've had some time to make it more like my room at home, which to be honest I sometimes forget what it looks like. When I left for New York I took all of the things from home that mean the most to me and just had to be at college with me.

To start off the things that needed to come to my room are my David Bowie pictures. I have a borderline obsession with that man. Everything about him is fantastic; from his style to his music... He is definitely someone I want to meet before I die. Next are all of my books and photographs. Though they are not super clear my room is covered with pictures of friends and family. It is like having a little bit of Ohio here with me.

The last few things that are a must in any room that I live in is my inspiration wall. I have a wall devoted to magazine clippings and photographs that inspire me for various reasons. They vary from year to year, but they more or less stay the same. Lastly my vast giraffe collection. They are my absolute favorite animal and a majority of the stuffed animals I have of them came from family members.

There is something so comforting about being able to fill my room with whatever I want and not being judged for it. Even though I am super far from home, I am able to bring some of it with me. Is there something you can't live without being in your room?

On to the Next Challenge

Since I've started interning and such, I have found that I would much rather leave behind the layers that I love so dearly and evolve to a much more minimalistic style... for the most part. Though I still love to layer up and look semi like a bag lady I now find myself being drawn more towards darker colors. They make everything look a lot cleaner and simple, which is what my style is slowly shifting into.

Lately I find myself completely consumed with interning and school that it is difficult to find time for my personal blog. This is one thing I am going to try and change! I am also trying to revamp my blog so stay tuned!

For this outfit I paired my favorite tattered boots with jeans from American Eagle and a Forever 21 top.

Back to the Old Grind

Well guys, it is that time of year again. The quiet summer on campus came to an abrupt stop and now students are swarming everywhere. Yes, school and fall is upon us all. Though I tried my hardest to avoid it, but alas classes finally impeached on my peaceful summer! For one, I feel awful for being so flimsy at keeping up this summer. I was terribly busy. But this is a new year.... sorta..... a new leaf is being turned. I personally cannot wait for my sophomore year! So many opportunities are in store for this semester and I can't wait to share them with you!

This is my normal go to fall outfit. It is so incredibly simple and comfortable. It is incredibly easy to deal with when I'm rushing to and from my classes. Darker shades have started to become my go to. Though I still love wearing brights on occasion, there is just something about an almost all black outfit that is incredibly chic. It is like a clear pallet. Anything can be added and it usually looks fantastic!

Tidbits of Inspiration

Hi all! I feel like it has been ages since I last posted and I apologize! Since it has been so crazy at my end I haven't had time to take pictures so I decided to post all of my pinterest obsessions. I know that this site is pretty much old news but I am just figuring out how to use it so bear with me! Anyways, here are some pins that I have found to be extremely inspiring. I find inspiration from so many things; it can be in nature or music or even literature. It is literally everywhere for me and I just can't help but get an overload of things that I love.

I am obviously heavily influenced by the 1960s. I sometimes find myself imagining what it would be like if I lived then. Would I hitchhike across the country like Jack Kerouac? Would I be at Woodstock listening to most of my favorite musicians? If time machines were real I would definitely go back and discover what it would really be like. A girl can dream right???

What do you find absolutely inspiring??

Life in the form of Instagram

I guess I'll get on the showing my life via my instagram bandwagon. It is such a wonderful way to peak into someone's life outside of a blog. Plus everyone becomes a professional photographer when using it, right? These few pictures kind of show what I have been up to in the past few weeks. It is not quite the exciting jet setting summers that I am used to, but it will do!

For the past few weeks my life has been nothing but work and exploring the world around me. I love how during the summer it is completely appropriate to run around in patriotic clothing like it is nobody's business. It is definitely one of the best times of the year.

What is your favorite part of the summer? Is it the wonderful fourth of July celebration? Or is it the fact that you can do whatever you want for three whole months??

And the Black

In a world that is full of color sometimes it is nice to wear simple black. Ignoring all of the flashy and bright colors that make people really stand out it is good to blend in sometimes. I mean obviously sometimes doing or wearing something understated makes you stand out. There is this blog that I follow called and the black and her style seems so effortless when she puts no color in her style. I thought I would give it a try. It really makes the world around you pop out even more!

Life Overview

Wow! What a whirlwind of a week! Sorry that I haven't been able to keep up with my blog that much but work has kept me on my toes! We had a our first orientation this week which makes it so I have to wear a lovely polo and pair of khakis everyday. Not very stylish right? But I guess I can make it work. Hopefully I can get back on track with taking pictures and such!
Before I leave you, what is the worst job uniform you have ever had??
Hope you are all having a fabulous summer!!

Neverland or Wonderland?

Hello world! I hope you are all doing fantastic! New York is so lovely! I cannot believe how lucky I am to be living here over the summer, even if it is on Long Island. Though I will have plenty of time to do fun photoshoots around the city for now I am sticking with the beautiful campus of Hofstra!

I know that I have said it before, but I still cannot get over how absolutely gorgeous this place is. It reminds me of either our own little Neverland or Wonderland.  I still cannot decide! As I went exploring today I found this coy pond garden thing. The last time that I saw it, it was winter and everything was dead and just sad. Today, however, it was absolutely magical. There were huge flowers and trees everywhere! It is just the place that I just want to sit and read in!

For the day I wanted something extremely relaxed and comfortable since it is the day of rest and all. My entire outfit is from Urban Outfitters except for the shoes which are F21. For days like this I think it is a perfect outfit; something that doesn't take that much thought. When I added the bow I suddenly felt like Alice. And when I enter this little garden area I felt as if I had fallen down the rabbit hole. Or maybe I finally reached the second star to the right and went straight onto morning. Whichever it was everything around me disappeared and I was in a trance. Do you ever have moments like that?

What is your favorite fairytale book? Have you ever found a place that somewhat resembles it or makes you feel like you are there??

Model Behavior

Hey world! I know it has been quite some time since I have done a model behavior post, but no time like the present right? So for today's model I went with Jasmine Tookes. Now, I do not know that much about her since she is a new comer.

The first thing I noticed about her style is the simplicity of it. She never is too over the top with which style she is going with. In her streetstyle she tends to keep her color palet very neutral. It goes along very well with the simplicity of everything. She is definitely someone to keep your eyes on for years to come!

Thanks for reading, loves.

Not Dark Yet

I cannot believe that it is already June 1! This summer is already speedy by really quickly! I have been so busy with work training and it is wonderful!

For the last few days I have been dressing very simply. nothing too drastic and outrageous. I think that for style you do not have to necessarily be over the top with what you wear. You can wear just a simple outfit consisting of just black items and look totally chic. For the day I went with an all black base and added a little color from the white cardigan. It is something that did not take too much think about. It is a very easy goto outfit if you are in a rush.

The Living is Easy

I'm back, lovelies! Sorry that it has been like a million years since my last post; I have been so busy with finals and rugby that I couldn't find time to take pictures and such. Rough life, huh? Anyways it it now officially summer! I am so excited! So many fantastic things are going to take place for the next three months!

First off, I am finally done with my freshman year of college! I cannot believe this year has gone by so quickly! It seems like just yesterday I was getting ready for graduation and packing for Thailand! Now I'm getting ready to spend my entire summer in New York! It is crazy how much things have changed. I get to stay and work for my school on the Orientation Staff. It is such an amazing opportunity and I cannot wait to spend the next three months with such awesome people!

Before I start my job though, I was lucky enough to go home for a week! I never thought I would be excited to be back in the lovely corn fields of Ohio, but alas I was quite pleased. I have one week to see all of my lovely friends and family till I the next time which is Thanksgiving! Whilst home my mom and I went shopping and I found these fantastic shorts! I'm literally in love with them! I am kind of in love with everything polka dot so these are perfect. I think that they are the perfect summer piece! You can pair them with almost everything and for almost every occasion. My best friend Allie was nice enough to take these pictures for me. Aren't they fantastic?!? I feel as if the capture everything that is home for me.

What is your favorite summertime activity?
Thank you all for reading!
